PSA Screening Test for Prostate Cancer
Prostate cancer is considered to be a silent disease. The American Cancer Society says one man in six will get it in his lifetime and one in thirty-five will die of the disease, but there is a way to catch it before it is too late. It’s a specific blood test called a PSA. If you have questions about prostate cancer diagnosis and treatment, download our free treatment guide here: www.clevelandclinic.org/prostatecancer.

Does an abnormal prostate, from a physical examination, mean prostate cancer?
My husband’s urologist just did a physical examination of my husband’s prostate and said that it was abnormal — smooth in the front, "bumpy" or "hard" in the back. He has scheduled a biopsy — does anyone know what the likelihood of cancer is (based on the physical characteristics)?
question for prostate cancer survivors?
I found out two weeks ago that I have prostate cancer. My wife and I have talked with the Dr and gone over the different form of treatment possible. I have had one hormone therapy shoot and and on a strict diet to lose as much weight as possible so I can have surgery in about 6 months. I would like to know from prostate cancer survivors what type of treatment you has and what were the side effects. Was incontinence a problem? I am thinking about having the radioactive seeds implanted in the prostate and if anyone has had this I would like to know how it went and what were any side effects you had. Other than being a bit overweight I am healthy. The cancer came as a surprise and was found after my PSA level rose to 4.3 The urologist did a biopsy and the cancer was found. I am curious to hear from other men who have survived prostate cancer.
I didn’t ask how to lose weight I asked about the side effects of the treatment
My brother-in-law found out he has stage 2 prostate cancer can you help me with this?
They do not know if it has spread yet to other organs. that makes all the difference in the world to his treatment and to his prognosis. If they had taken 16 samples in the biopsy and 5 came out positive wouldnt that be a sign that it has not spread?
Prostate cancer survival with advanced stages.?
I have just been diognosed with prostate cancer. My urologists recommended treatment is: radiation, implant radioactive seeds and hormone therapy. Reason for this as the only treatment is: aggressive high grade cancer, Gleason’s combined score 9 (4+5). perineul invasive adenocarcinoma is present.
My PSA has been 4.2+ for several years. I am now 66 years old & I do not understand why a biopsy was not done before now. I trusted the doctors to make informed decisions for me.
The main reason I’m asking is I’m a caregiver for my wife who has M.S.
What are the survival rates for this cancer in this stage????
Is it normal for prostate cancer patients to frequently urinate?
Since the result of my biopsy and treatment, I have been going to the bathroom frequently. I was prescribed a pill called ‘harlan’ which has moderated the frequency but it is still painful and more frequent than I want. Can anyone help?. I don’t want to keep calling my doctor with what may appear to be minor issues.
What do you recommend for stage one prostate cancer?
My psa two months ago showed 4.4 Last week, a different lab said it was 6.4 resulting in a biopsy. 3 of the 12 samples showed cancer. This is stage One. Any recommendations on best treatment? I am 74 yrs. old and in great health otherwise.
Gleason score is six. Twelve biopsies were taken. Three were positive.

wouldn't it be better to have your prostate removed if your blood test indicate you are high risk for cancer?
I have been tested as a high risk for prostate cancer. Instead of the pain full biopsy wouldn’t it be best to just have my prostate removed?
