Dr. Samadi – State of the Art Prostate Cancer Treatment Brought to Israel – Fox News

According to the American Cancer Society 1 in 6 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime, and 1 in 35 will die from the disease. When caught early the disease has a 95% 5-year survival rate, and new technologies such as robotic prostatectomy surgery are being used to provide survivors with an increased quality of life post-surgery. Dr. David Samadi, Vice Chair of Urology at Mt. Sinai Medical Center in NY and developer of the “SMART Surgery” technique for robotic prostatectomy has recently performed the very first SMART surgery at Rambam Hospital in Haifa, Israel. Rambam, a pioneer in liver and kidney transplants is now planning to lead the way in technologically advanced prostate removal surgeries with Dr. Samadi’s help. Robotic prostate removal allows an experienced surgeon a more precise method for performing the surgery by providing a field of view unobstructed by blood as well as visual magnification. Dr. Samadi has been collaborating closely with Dr. Jack Baniel of Rabin Medical Center and Dr. Jacob Ramon of Tel Hashomer Hospital to mentor fellow colleagues in Israel on his SMART Surgery Technique.
